Psychological assessments are performed by our licensed psychologist, Dr. Hoffman.
Psychological testing can help improve the accuracy of diagnosis and clarify questions about thinking, performance and personality. When a client has complicated problems, psychological assessment can also help clarify how to proceed with treatment. Dr. Hoffman works closely with your physician, psychiatrist, therapist, or children’s teachers and caregivers to answer referral questions in a comprehensive way.
Psychological assessments typically consist of a clinical interview to obtain information about identified concerns and pertinant background information. A customized battery of psychological assessments and screeners are then administered depending on the client's individual needs and referral question.
Psychological assessments are offered for the following referral questions:
·Child and Adult ADHD (ADD) Testing
·Autism and Asperger's Disorder
·Learning Disabilty (Dyslexia, etc)
·Cognitive/ IQ Assessment
·Personality Disorder Assessments
·Parental Evaluations for Adoption

Our psychiatrist, Dr. Charles Hayden, is the first in Madison County to offer TMS therapy for treatment of depression. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a technological breakthrough in the treatment of mood disorders using MRI strength magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain known to control mood. This technology was cleared by the FDA in 2008 for patients who have failed to respond to antidepressant medication. Because it is not a depression drug, patients are free from drug side effects. Treatments last about 37 minutes and patients are awake and alert -able to drive immediately afterward. Recently insurance plans are starting to cover this treatment.
